Something as simple as dumbbell side raises is one of the exercises I cringe at when I see people butcher their sets. Here are a few simple and effective tips I use with my clients for isolating & developing delts: Do not use momentum – make sure your delts are doing most of the work and not your core or lower back, i see people do this with (I don’t like using the term “improper” but it’s the only one that comes to mind) shitty form. The only place you probably shouldn’t “rock” – anywhere else is game, unless you’re at a Nickelback concert, nevermind that would also be a big no-no. Elbows stop at parallel – if they come up higher most people tend to involve way too much traps than you really should. Elbows are a tad bit higher than the wrist when stopping at parallel if not on the same plane – dumbbells should never be higher than the elbow, lead the movement through the elbows, pretend like you’re trying to bring them out to each side rather than up. Top position, wrists & elbows should be aligned with shoulders, when you get there, squeeze the shit out of those delts. Know when to implement cheating reps – do not start swinging right away, I, like anyone else love to grab some heavy ass weight and cheat away, but I usually do them after I’ve done a few sets concentrated. Pick weight accordingly – start light, do higher reps then work your way up. When you get to the weight where you start failing at 8 but get 10 reps with good form, that’s your weight – add 2-4 cheating reps at the end to really fatigue them. Feel free to forward this post or tag people that always fuck this exercise up 💪☺️
Day 2 shooting with @nutrexresearch – got a lot of video content, tips for better isolating lagging muscle groups, form adjustments, nutrition advice, training on the road, etc. can’t wait for you guys to see it. After we shot some stills for some of the new products we have coming out soon and I had one of the most epic cheat meals probably ever – see today’s stories for details 🙈😂
Slow but steady! 10 years apart, still hanging in there. My friend is currently getting ready for a contest and through his frustration, he told me that he doesn’t think he’s going to do the contest anymore. To which I said “pardon me good sir, but the fuck you are!” We all have our moments of weakness, we all have our shit days, the days where the mirror is playing mind games with us, but reality is – you didn’t come this far, just to get this far. Always finish what you start. If you quit every time you had an off day you wouldn’t have had some of the most successful moments in your life, all you have to do is sit back and replay those moments in your head, and as long as you do what you have to do and give it your all, there’s no failure, there’s only personal gratification of saying you did this shit and saw it all the way until the end. Whether or not you come out on top doesn’t even matter at this point, because if you finish what you start, you’ve already beaten that inner demon that wanted to quit all this time 💪🤓
Just throwing some diversity into my cardio, linked up with @thomastheboxer who’s a world champ, to take me through a solid session. New weekly hobby! Thomas is a trainer at @completebodygym as well, and it was nice to have @_andreykopylov_ swing by to capture some moments, swipe on the photo to see more. There are some photos from the session in my stories as well. Looking forward to next week! 💪🤓
Thanks to @perbernalphoto for the throwback. This was few days after New York Pro, 3 years ago I believe, where i took 3rd place. Flex Magazine for the first time ran a story on a men’s physique competitor, it was really an honor to be not only a part of that major issue, but also to have been photographed by the legendary Per Bernal, and at @bevsgym no less! 🙏🤓
